Winifred M. Poncavage

Mrs. Winifred Mary (Steigerwalt) Poncavage, age 97, of Quarry Road Andreas, died Friday, January 7, 2011, at Blue Mountain Health Systems in Lehighton.

While devoted to her home and family, Winifred worked on the family farm in Andreas. During WWII, she worked at the munitions arsenal in Philadelphia, and was a supply Post Mistress for the Andreas Post office.

Winifred was a member of Ben Salem U.C.C. of Lehighton, and was a 1931 Lehighton High School graduate.

Born in Andreas, she was the daughter of the late Franklin E. and Esther C. (Kressley) Steigerwalt.

She is survived by her

Two Daughters,
Joanna M. Poncavage of Walnutport,
Susan Poncavage of Andreas with whom she resided;

One Son,
Daniel F. Poncavage and his wife Susan of Tamaqua;

Two Sisters,
Florence Steigerwalt of Bainbridge, Pa.,
Marie Jespersen of Rockford, Ill.;

One Brother,
Joseph Steigerwalt of Andreas;.

Three grandchildren,Tara Poncavage and her husband Michael Dorman of Coplay, Pa., Corey Poncavage and his wife Jennifer of Mountain Top, and Lindsey of Tamaqua;

Two great grandchildren, Julia and Evan Poncavage of Mountain Top;

Preceded in death by her husband Joseph H. Poncavage in 1977.

Interment, Sat. January 15, 2011 at Ben Salem U.C.C. Cemetery Lehighton.
