William Robert Thomas, 82 years of age, of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania died on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at Phoebe Allentown Health Care in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
Born May 19, 1938 in Lansford, he was the son of the late Joseph G., and Beatrice I. (Rohlfing) Thomas. He was also predeceased by his sister, Beverly Mattrazzo.
Surviving are son, Darren “Skip” Thomas and his wife Laura of Bowmanstown; sister, Dorothy Mayernik of Tamaqua; grandchildren, Bethany and Karyn; and many nieces and nephews.
A graduate of Lansford High School, William served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He spent many years as a computer and phone technician for N.C.R, based in Wichita, Kansas, and traveling to Montana and Missouri. While residing in Shawnee, Kansas, he was the former Commander of the American Legion. Returning to Tamaqua he joined the Tamaqua American Legion, and Elks. William was an avid reader, and member of the First United Methodist Church of Tamaqua.
