William L. Steigerwalt, 93 years of age, former West Penn Township Chief of Police, passed away on Monday January 19, 2015 at the Life Care Hospital of Mechanicsburg. A resident of Mechanicsburg, William and his wife resided in West Penn Twp., before retiring to Columbia, South Carolina, returning to Pennsylvania in their later years.
Survived by his wife of seventy-three years, Erma E. (Houser) Steigerwalt.
A former member of the West Penn Lions, William was also a Mason, and member of the Association of Police Chief's.
Born in West Penn Township, the son of the late Howard, and Emma (Kemner) Steigerwalt.
In addition to his wife he is survived by;

Sharon L. Everett wife of Robert of The Villages, Fl;

Four grandchildren, Lisa Smith and her husband Brad, Kristin DeGard, and her husband Ryan, Trina Beasley, and her husband Jeremy, and Sheila Everett;
Seven great grandchildren;

Fern Osenbach of Tamaqua,
Arlene Breiner wife of Richard of Tamaqua;
Brother,
Welles Steigerwalt and his wife Pearl of Tamaqua;
Numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by sister, Grace Reinhart; brothers, Howard, Jr., Herman, and Leroy Steigerwalt.

Funeral Service Saturday January 24, 2015 at 11 o’clock A.M. from the Robert S. Nester Funeral Home.
A gathering of friends shall take place at the funeral home from 9:30 A.M. until time of services.
