William P. Sernak

August 8, 1959 — April 13, 2015

William P Sernak, 55, of Quakake Rd., Weatherly, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2015, at home in the care of his family, and nurse, Ellen Busher.

He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Maria Elena (Gutierrez)Sernak.

William was a 3rd generation farmer, coowner and President of Sernak Farm, where he farmed since he was a little boy, raising dairy cows, growing various vegetables, and processing meat in his butcher shop.

He was a member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Parish, Church of St. Joseph, Hazleton. He was a member of the PA Farmers' Association, PA Vegetable Growers' Association, and Alumni Association of Marian Catholic High School.

A 1977 graduate of Marian Catholic High School, William was a certified butcher, who liked to make kielbasa, jerky and other goodies that he enjoyed sharing with his family and friends. William loved nothing more than farming and being outdoors, appreciating the fruits of his hard work, the beauty of wildlife and God’s beautiful fields. William and his wife, Elena, truly enjoyed the company of their family and friends especially the children in their lives, inviting them into their home for dinner and gatherings, where William would “school” each of them at pinball and then relax the rest of the evening watching a good old western movie. William was blessed with many nieces and nephews, but his niece and Goddaughter, Jessie, was the apple of his eye, doing everything together, including farming.

Born in Hazleton, he was the son of the late Henry L. Sernak, Sr. and the late June Ann (Adams)Sernak. He is also survived by his Goddaughter, Yesenia "Jessie" Landeros; StepDaughter, Alex
Vieyra of Argentina; five brothers, Stephen J. Sernak and his significant other, Jenny Lee Harris of Anderson, SC, James J. Sernak and his wife, Anna Marie of Drums, John H. Sernak and his wife, Sherry of Weatherly, Henry L. Sernak, Jr. and his significant other, Bridgett Fallon of McAdoo; Jeffrey M. Sernak and his wife, Karen of Weatherly; twin sisters, Susan M. Sernak-Martinelli, wife of Frank Martinelli of Drums, Stephanie A. Sernak-Parrish, wife of Mark Parrish of Hazleton; and many nieces and nephews both here and Mexico.
