William J. Ripple, husband, father, and grandfather, 90 years of age of Jefferson Street Weatherly, passed away on December 9, 2016 at Celtic Hospice in Wilkes-Barre.
Survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Jean G. (Gaumer) Ripple; beloved daughters, Gail Ripple of Bethlehem, Mrs. Susan Marley wife of Gerald of Hazle Twp.; sister, Mrs. Dorothy Cerullo of Hazleton; grand daughters, Pamela Gasper, Patricia Gorka and her husband Eric, Kaitlyn Marley; great grandchildren, Danielle, Aubrey, and Aaron; brother-in-law, William Gaumer and his companion Eleanor Hadesty.
A graduate of West Hazleton High School, Bill entered the United States Navy at seventeen years of age serving valiantly in WWII. He attained the rank of petty officer second class and was a signalman serving aboard LST 227. Bill served in the invasion of the Philippine Islands and at Okinawa. He finished his service time in Tokyo, Yokohama, Sasebo, and Nagasaki.
He retired from Tobyhanna Army Depot as a supervisor in the computer Department. Bill, was an avid golfer, and outdoorsman who enjoyed archery hunting, and working in his garden. He was a member of Faith United Church of Christ of Hazleton, and Post #360 American Legion of Weatherly.
Born in West Hazleton the son of the late Louis F., and Hazel (Cawley) Ripple, he was also predeceased by brothers, Louis F. Ripple, Jr., Sheldon Ripple; sisters, Gertrude, and Ruth Ripple.

A Memorial servics will be held on Wednesday December 14, 2016 from the Faith United Church of Christ 21 Faith Drive Hazleton, Pennsylvania 18202 at 10 o’clock A.M., Rev. Jane Hess to officiate.
Entombment with Military honors at Sky-View Memorial Park Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.
