Mr. William J. Moyer, age 77, of East Union Street Tamaqua, Pa., died Friday, September 18, 2009, in his home, surrounded by his family.
William's greatest loves, were his family, hunting, the Marine Corp, his Fighting Irish, and the Christmas season, and it's surrounding tradition.
William, retired from the former Atlas Powder Company as a mechanic in 1994. William was a Special Police Officer, working for Urban Security. He held membership in the East End Fire Company, Faternal Order of Police Lodge #13, Moss Glenn Rod & Gun Club, C.H. Berry Post #173.
William, served his country with pride as a United State Marine Corporal during the Korean War.
Born in Tamaqua, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Anna (Touth) Moyer.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary (Firkal) Moyer;
Four Daughters,
Terry (Moyer) Behr of Tamaqua, Lee (Moyer) James wife of Keith of Tamaqua,
Miss Lisa Moyer of Tamaqua,
Anjella (Moyer) Hrebik wife of Mark of Nesquehoning;
Three Sons,
Joseph B. Moyer and his wife Melanie,
Charles J. Moyer and his wife Nancy,
William J. Moyer and his wife Susie, all of Tamaqua;
Twelve grandchildren, Laura, Kristen, and Glenn Behr, Lauren Moyer, Billy and Eric James, Ashley Pelo, Kaysi McLaughlin, Collin and William Cole Moyer, Mike and Markie Hrebik;
Preceded in death by brothers, Joe, Chick, and Ben Moyer; sisters, Theresa Rarick, and Marie Assallita.
Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa., where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, September 21, 2009 and from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM Tuesday, September 22, 2009.
A Mass od Chrisitian Burial will be at St. Jerome R.C.C. at 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 22, 2009 .
Interment with Military honors, will be at St. Jerome R.C.C. Cemetery in Tamaqua,
