Dr. William Thomas "Doc" Ravina, D.D.S., age 85, of 222 First Street Weatherly, Pa., died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at home, cared for by his wife of 56 years, Anna (Wursta) Ravina, R.N.,
A 1942 graduate of the Mining & Mechanical Institute (M.M.I.), Doc, matriculated to Temple University earning a B.A. in 1948, and his Doctor of Dentistry in 1952.
Doc practiced family Dentistry in Weatherly from 1954 to 1995.
Doc served in the United States Army during WWII, and was a Dental Officer serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, attached to the 6th fleet stationed in the Mediterranean Sea.
He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes R.C.C. of Weatherly, and was Past President of Holy Name Society.
Professionally, he served as Past President of the Hazleton Dental Society, and was a member of the American Dental Association.
A 50 yr. member of the Weatherly American Legion, he also belonged to the Lions, and Weatherly Area Community Chest, where he was a Past President, Solicitor, and board member.
Doc was an ardent fan of Little League baseball, and local high school sports, following the careers of his grandchildren, and many local youth, encouraging their participation by his Wit and often the slip of a gold dollar recognized a job well done.
He was a recipient of the Charles Murray Award.
Born in Freeland, he was the son of the late Leo and Theresa (Busetti) Ravina.
He is survived by his wife Mrs. Anna (Wursta) Ravina, R.N.;

Cindy Hart wife of William of Laurel Springs, NJ., Nancy Hadzick wife of Ed of Peachtree City, Ga.;
One Son,
William T. Ravina, Jr. of Washington D.C.;
Eleven grandchildren
Two great-grandchildren;
Brother, Leo Ravina and his wife Cecelia of Hazleton; sisters, Katherine Lutz of Freeland, Teresa Ravina of Hazleton;
Preceded in death by a sister, Agnes Sotak.

Mass of Christian Burial, Wed. June 23, 2010 at 12 o'clock noon from Our Lady of Lourdes R.C.C. 318 Plane Street Weatherly, Pa., Rev. Floyd Ceasar officiating.

Interment with military honors, Union Cemetery of Weatherly.
