Mr. William Henry Briggs, age 91, of Weatherly, Pa., died Monday, July 25, 2011, at Weatherwood Nursing Home.
He worked in maintenance and enjoyed boxing.
Born in Portsmouth, VA, he was the son of the late Frank Briggs and the late Estelle (Jones) Briggs.
He is survived by his
Four Daughters,
Belinda Briggs of Bronx, NY;
Lorraine (Briggs) Booker wife of William of Weatherly;
Robin Briggs of Bronx, NY; and
Chantay Briggs of N.Y., NY
Two Sons,
William Briggs of Bronx, NY and
Demond Briggs of N.Y., NY
Two Sisters,
Loretta Stroud of Chesapeake, VA and
Diane Vincent of Norfolk, VA
Two Brothers,
Leon Briggs and Jake Briggs both of Portsmouth, VA
seven grandchildren
two great-grandchildren
step-daughter, Antoinette Gurley of Yonkers, NY.
Preceded in death by his wife in 1996, Louise (Tripp) Briggs; son, Steven Briggs who died in 1994; brothers, Alton, Raymond and John Briggs; sisters, Estelle Saddler, Elizabeth Holton, Doris Robinson and Lillian Barr.
Arrangements are being handled by Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home, 211 First Street, Weatherly, Pa.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 1, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Mediator 260 W. 231st St., Bronx, NY, Pastor Diego Belgabo- Miller officiating. Calling hours on Monday from 10-11 AM at the church prior to the Service.
Interment at Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, NY.
