He lived near the Lehighton Community Grove, and he was a friendly fixture there for decades. No one made the Grove more fun. He was also an active boy scout. He would traverse the neighborhood as a youngster, selling useful things every year from the Boy Scouts “Tom Watt Kit”.
Wilbur was a friend to everyone and always saw the best in people. Just about everyone in Lehighton has a Wilbur story and they are all funny.
Wilbur was the founding member of the “Grove Guerillas”. The Grove Guerillas started as a rag tag sandlot football team. It evolved to a basketball team and finally to a social comradery that just had a good time at the Grove.
After graduating Lehighton Area High School in 1973. Wilbur went to work at the New Jersey Zinc Company for many years. He also worked as a house framer and then as a truck driver for the Times News Newspaper. He worked there for a long time and retired just a few years ago due to health reasons.
Wilbur was active in several local Rock Band and absolutely loved music. Most of all Wilbur was just a nice guy who will be missed. He was of the Christian Faith.
