Wayne A. Oakes, 65 years of age of Tuscarora, Pennsylvania passed away on Friday, June 3, 2016, at Manor Care of Pottsville.
Survived by his wife of thirteen years, Jacqueline J. (Fredericks) Oakes; daughters, Mrs. Jennifer L. Evans and her husband Shannon of Barnesville, Mrs. MariAnn Shilko wife of Ernie of Tamaqua; sisters, Mrs. Marie Quick wife of David of Quakake, and Mrs. Kathryn Boris wife of Leonard of Shenandoah; brothers, Kenneth Oakes and his wife Kay of Scotch Plains, NJ, Arthur, Emmory, and Michael Oakes all of Tamaqua; Grandsons, Ernie, Billy, and Hunter; many nieces and nephews also survive Wayne.
A Tamaqua High School graduate, Wayne had worked at Kane Lumber of Tamaqua for over forty years, and upon retirement worked for Panther Valley Lumber of Lansford. He was a member of the South Ward Fire Company, Keystone Hunt & Fish Club, and social member of the Tamaqua American Legion. Wayne was an ardent Notre Dame fan.
Born in Coaldale, Pennsylvania the son of the late Charles W. Oakes, and Lucy (Sweeney) Oakes. Wayne was predeceased by sisters, Gertrude, Bernadette, and Eleanore Oakes; brothers, Vincent Sweeney, Charles, Jeffrey, Glyn, and Donald Oakes.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. of 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252. (570) 668-2550
Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday evening June 7, 2016 from the funeral home at 8 o'clock P.M.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday June 7, 2016 from 5:00 P.M. until time of services.
Private interment.
