Mr. Walter E. Snell, age 86, of North St., Weatherly died Monday, November 2, 2009 at Hazleton General Hospital.
He was a graduate of Weatherly High School, and attended Penn State University and McCann's School of Business.
He worked for Penn Dot as a civil engineer and had built homes with his father.
Walter was a member of Salem U.C.C. of Weatherly, and was known for his charitable donation of homemade soup to all Weatherly organizations.
He was a WWII Army Veteran.
Born in Weatherly, he was the son of the late Walter D. and Ruth H. (Erdman) Snell.
He is survived by his
wife of 30 years, Josephine (Tarone) Snell of Weatherly
brother, David Snell and his wife JoAnne of State College, Pa.
niece, Terry Weichman; nephews, Raymond, Steven, and Paul Weichman, and John Snell; cousin, Lawrence Erdman;
Preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Marilyn (Snell) Weichman.
Arrangements are being handled by Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home 211 First St., Weatherly, Pa., Philip J. Jeffries F.D./Supervisor where the family will receive friends on Friday, November 6, 2009 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Funeral Service will be on Friday, November 6, 2009 at 1:00 PM at Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home, Reverend Fredericka Beauchard officiating.
Interment will be at Union Cemetery of Weatherly.
