Viola Mary Richards

Mrs. Viola Mary (Tanner) Richards, age 90, of Nesquehoning, Pa., died Saturday, January 3, 2009, at Hometown Nursing Home in Tamaqua, Pa.

Viola was a 1936 Tamaqua High School graduate, and attended Trinity U.C.C. of Tamaqua, Pa, where she was very envloved.

She retired from Schultz's Inc. of Hometown in 1982. Viola was a member of the Tamaqua Senior Citizens, and Panther Valley Golden Ager's, and volunteered for Easter Seals.

Born in Tamaqua, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Maude (Reber) Tanner.

She is also survived by her

One Daughter,
Mrs. Gail (Richards) Jordan wife of James of Nesquehoning, Pa., with whom she resided;

One Son,
Mr. Daniel James Richards of Harrisburg, Pa.

Robert Madenfort whom she raised and his wife Ruth of Dauphin, Pa.;

Close friend, Mr. Church Schneider of Harrisburg, Pa.

Two grandchildren, Jennifer Hotsko and J.P. Jordan
One great-grandchild, Anthony Hotsko;

Preceded in death by husbands, James F. Post in 1944, and Daniel W. Richards in 1970, sister Mrs. Martha Madenfort died in 1999.

Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa.,

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Saturday, January 17, 2009, at Trinity United Church of Christ 22 Lafayette Street Tamaqua, Pa. 18252

Memorial service will be at Trinity United Church of Christ at 2 o'clock P.M., Saturday, January 17, 2009, Rev., Dr. David W. Grant officiating.

Interment will be at Sky-View Memorial Park in Tamaqua, Pa.
