Vincent John Sweeney

Vincent J. "Pap" Sweeney, age 77, of Coaldale, affectionately known as the Mayor of Seek, died Friday, March 30, 2012, at St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital in Coaldale, surrounded by his family.

Pre-deceased by his wife, Dorothy M.(Dally)Sweeney in 2008.

Vincent, retired in 1995 from Miners Memorial Hospital, the former Coaldale State Hospital where he worked in the boiler room.

He was the son of the late Lucy Sweeney-Oakes, and was raised by his grandparents, Catherine and John Sweeney.

He is survived by his,

Preceded in death by his sisters, Gertrude, Bernadette and Eleanore; brothers, Donald J. Oakes, Glyn M. Oakes; great grandchild, Joshua Fallon.

Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa., where the family will receive friends on Monday, April 2, 2012 from 6-8 PM and Tuesday, April 3, 2012 from 8:45-9:30 AM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at 10 o'clock AM at SS. Peter & Paul R.C.C. 307 Pine St., Tamaqua, Pa., Reverend William Linkchorst to officiate.

Interment at Sky View Memorial Park, Tamaqua, PA.
