Mr. Valentin Vasile Bratean,Sr., age 71, of West Main Street Weatherly, Pa., died Friday, February 12, 2010, at Lehigh Valley Hopital Salisbury Twp.
Valentin, graduated high school from Tirnaveni in Romania, and then studied agriculture in Dumbraveni.
He worked as a Banker in Romania until taking ill, and then immigrated to the United States in 1990.
He was a member of St. Joseph of Maramures Romanian Orthodox Church, Hazleton.
Born in Adamus, Romania, he was the son of the late Vasile and Ioana (Almasan) Bratean.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mrs. Livia (Hancu) Bratean;
Two Sons,
Mr. Virgil Dragusin and his wife Ana Maria of Philadelphia, Pa.,
Mr. Valentin Bratean and his wife Luminita of Weatherly, Pa.;
One Sister,
Mrs. Ela (Bratean) Modorcea wife of Vasile of Romania;
One Brother,
Mr. Liviu Bratean and his wife Anuta of Romania ;
Preceded in death by his brother, Victor Bratean.
Arrangements are being handled by Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home, 211 First Street, Weatherly, Pa., Philip J. Jeffries F.D./Sup., where the family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Tuesday, February 16, 2010 and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, February 16, 2010, Service of the Wake 6:15 PM.
Panachida Services will be held at 10:00 AM Wed February 17, 2010 from the Philip J. Jeffries F.H.
Rite of Burial will be at St. Joseph of Maramures Romanian Orthodox Church, 314 West Broad Street Hazleton, Pa., at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 17, 2010, Rev. Father Traian Stafiuc officiating.
Interment will be at Union Cemetery, Weatherly, Pa.
