Thomas T. Edwards

Mr. Thomas T. Edwards, age 82, of Arlington Street Tamaqua, Pa., died Sunday, December 5, 2010, suddenly at home.
A 1946 Lansford High School graduate, Tom served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Retired from Bethlehem Steel in 1983, where he worked as a crane operator, he enjoyed his retirement,camping, and reading history books.
Upon retirement, Tom delivered the Times News in the East End Sect. of Tamaqua. The paper route was the task, but the benefit was socializing with neighbors, and checking on those he delivered to.
Devoted to his wife of fifty-six years, children, and grandchildren, he maintained a strong religious zeal, as a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tamaqua.
He served as a Cub Scout leader, as his son Tom went through the scouting ranks.
Born in Lansford, he was the son of the late Ralph and Mary (Ponting) Edwards.
He is survived by his wife Irene V. Edwards;
Two Daughters,
Karen A. (Edwards) Campomizzi wife of John of Orwigsburg,
Janet L. (Edwards) Dove wife of Keith of Schuylkill Haven;
One Son,
Thomas D. Edwards, Sr., and his wife Melissa of Coaldale;
Five grandchildren, Lisa A., and John T. Campomizzi, Matthew T., and Megan E. Dove, and Thomas D. Edwards, Jr.;
One great-grandchild, Ava E. Hufnagle.
Preceded in death by an infant son in 1957; sisters, Mrs. Florence Bechtel, and Mrs. Marion Ackernecht.
Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa.,where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, December 7, 2010.
Friends will also be received Wednesday from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM , December 8, 2010, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Pine & Mauch Chunk Streets Tamaqua.
Funeral service will be at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran at 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 8, 2010, Rev. Phyllis Wolford officiating.
Interment with Military Honors, will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Tamaqua.
