Mrs. Thelma I. Witner, age 92, of Weatherly, Pa., died Friday, June 26, 2009, at St. Lukes Manor in Hazleton, Pa.
Thelma was amember of St. Matthew's Union Church of Weatherly, Pa.
From the early 1950's until 1973 she and her family resided in Reading, Pa.. During that time, Thelma was a memebr of the Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, and was active in Girl Scouts. Thelma, worked as a Domestic in the Reading area, and then went to work as a press operator and welder at the former Parish Steel.
Upon returning to Weatherly in 1974, she worked as a cook at the Weatherwood Nursing Home.
Born in Weissport, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Nelson and Katherine (Balliet) Monk.
She is survived by her

Arlene (Witner) Correll wife of James J. of Weatherly;
One Son,
James R. Witner, and his wife Joyce of Sinking Springs;
One Sister,
Margaret (Monk) Koch of Weatherly;
Six grandchildren
Seven great-grandchildren
One great-great-grandchild;
Preceded in death in 1995 by her husband James E. Witner; daughter, Anna Louise Witner in 1943; brothers, Nelson, Wilson, and Victor Monk; sisters, Mrs. Anna Moyer, Mrs. Tootie Houser, and Mrs. Ella Henry.
Arrangements are being handled by Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home 211 First Street, Weatherly, Pa., Philip J. Jeffries F.D./ Supervisor,where the family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 30, 2009.
Funeral service will be at Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home at 11:00 o'clock AM Tuesday, June 30, 2009, Rev. Walter Breiner officiating.
Interment will be at Union Cemetery in Weatherly.
