Stanley J. "Sonny" Karnish, age 74, of West Broad Street Tamaqua, died Sat., December 1, 2012, at St. Luke's Miners Memorial in Coaldale.
Survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara A. (Coleman) Karnish.
Stanley was a 1956 Lansford High School graduate, and served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
A devoted member of St. Jerome R.C.C. of Tamaqua, Stanley worked for F.W. Armitage of Allentown, retiring from Air Products & Chemicals of Hometown in 2001 after 22 years working as a welder.
He loved to fish, and was a member of the Lehigh Valley Fishing Assoc. A lifetime member and Trustee of the East End Fire Company, he maintained membership in the Tamaqua American Legion Post #173.
A Yankees fan, Stan was an ardent Notre Dame Football fan, traveling to many a game, while belonging to the Notre Dame Club of Schuylkill County.
Born in Lansford, he was the son of the late Joseph and Valerie (Mikulsky) Karnish.

Preceded in death by his son, Stanley J. Karnish, Jr. in 1968, sister, Mrs. Bernadine Porambo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thur., December 6, 2012 at 10 o'clock A.M. from St. Jerome R.C.C. West Broad Street Tamaqua.
Friends may call Wed. evening December 5, 2012 at the funeral home from 6 to 8:00 P.M., and on Thursday morning from 8:45 A.M. to 9:30 A.M.
