Shirley May Readly, age 79, of Mauch Chunk St.,Tamaqua, died Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at St. Luke's Miners Memorial in Coaldale.

Shirley was the first female hired by Bethlehem Steel in Mining Operation as a spotter.

She was a member of Bethany E.C.C. of Tamaqua.

She was a 1952 graduate of Philadelphia Agriculture High School.

Born in Delaware County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Ada (Dannenhower) Simmers

She is survived by her

One Daughter:
Denise Hazlett of New Ringgold;

Three Sons:
Jerry W. Hazlett and Chris Hazlett of Tamaqua;
Nicholas Hazlett of Jim Thorpe;

One Brother
Walter Schoenwetter;

Ten Grand Children
eight Great-Grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her step-father, Peter Schoenwetter.
