Sandy A. Steigerwalt, 68 years of age of Mush Dahl Road New Ringgold, Pennsylvania passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at St. Luke's Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale, Pennsylvania.
Survived by her husband of 22 years, Leon H. Steigerwalt, Sr.; sons, Chris Matlaga of New Ringgold, Butch Steigerwalt, Jr. and his wife Joyale of Andreas, Kyle Steigerwalt of NC.; daughters, Kim A. Matlaga of Hazleton, Denise M. Trayah of Hazleton, Stacie Steigerwalt of East Stroudsburg ; grand child, Terra whom she adored; mother, Mary Ann (Valent) Hoppes; sisters, Dr. Elaine Hoppes-Goroshko wife of Steve of Warnersville, Lori J. Finucan of Tamaqua.
A Tamaqua High School graduate, Sandy had worked at Leiby's Restaurant in her youth, and served as Code Enforcement Officer in West Penn Twp. for many years. Sandy, enjoyed gardening, cooking and the constant companionship of her dogs, Harley, Lilly and Ben.
Sandy was a member of St. Peter's Church of Mantzville.
Born in Tamaqua she was predeceased by her father, Norman Hoppes; first husband, Richard Matlaga; twin sibblings, Donna and John Hoppes.
