Ruth Mae DeAngelo, 91 years of age formerly of Allentown, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 10, 2016, at Hometown Nursing & Rehabilitation Ctr. in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.
Widow of Anthony J. DeAngelo who preceded her in death on November 18, 1987. Ruth is survived by her boys, Joseph DeAngelo and his wife Karen of Allentown, Ralph DeAngelo of New Ringgold, and Anthony DeAngelo of Weatherly; 7 grandchildren 14 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren.
Born Monday, April 28, 1924 in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Ralph E., and Annabelle (Wolfe) Wentz.
A Tamaqua High School graduate, Ruth retired from Cedar Brooke Nursing Home in 1986 having worked in the housekeeping department. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ of Allentown, and a member of the Eastern Star Calypso Chapter #163 of Allentown where she had been worthy matron, and the White Shrine.
She was predeceased by sisters, Kathryn F. Tyndall and Doris Frances Mickolajcyk; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Bernadine DeAngelo, and Marybeth Thamarus her son Anthony's companion of many years.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation services, Inc. 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252. (570) 668-2550.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday morning March 16, 2016 at 11 o'clock A.M. from the funeral home, Rev. Homer Royer to officiate.
Friends shall be received on Tuesday evening March 15, 2016 from the funeral home from 6 to 8:00 P.M., and on Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM until time of services.
Interment will be in Sky-View Memorial Park Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.
