Ruth V. Brown

Mrs. Ruth V. Brown, age 88, of Park Drive Clamtown, Tamaqua, Pa., died Thursday, October 7, 2010, at St. Lukes Miners Memorial Medical Ctr. in Coaldale, with her husband of 64 years, John H. Brown, by her side.

A 1940 Tamaqua High School graduate, Ruth worked for the former Atlas Powder Company for 43 years, on the Cap Line retiring in 1986.

She was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, the American Legion Aux., and Order of Eastern Star, all of Tamaqua.

Ruth, was also active in the Sweet Adeline's of Jim Thorpe, and the Retired Senior's Volunteer Program of Pottsville.

Born in Locust Valley, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Virgie (Blew) Deem.

She is survived by her husband, John H. Brown;

One Sister,
Mrs. Phyllis (Deem) Hoppes of Andreas;

One Brother,
Ernest Deem, and his wife Donna of New Ringgold;

Many nieces, and nephews;

Preceded in death by her brother's, Kenneth, Lamar,and Francis Deem; sister's, Mrs. Verna Kline, Mrs. Helen McKeever, and Mrs. Leah Gerber.

Arrangements are being handled by Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, Inc., 2066 West Penn Pike, Rte.#309, New Ringgold, Pa., where the family will receive friends from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 13, 2010.

Funeral service will be at Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, Inc. at 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 13, 2010, Rev. Jeffrey P. Kistler officiating.

Interment will be at IndianTown Gap National Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
