Russell W. Coleman, age 92, of West Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Rush Twp., Tamaqua, died Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at Summerfield Assisted Living Residence in W. Bradenton, Fla.
The husband of the late Leah M. (Greenaway) Coleman, who died on January 5, 2006.
Russell was a St. Jerome High School graduate. Russell served in the 2nd Army Transport Squadron as a Crew Chief, and Mechanic. He was a member of the Over The Hump Assoc. for he fought in the India-Burma China Theater, flying over the Himalayas.
Russell received the following decorations for his service to his country, Air Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Unit Award, American Theater Service Medal, As-Pacific Theater Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, and the Victory Medal.
A member of St. Jerome R.C.C., Russell retired from the Defense Industrial Supply Ctr. of Philadelphia, Pa.
Born in Tamaqua, he was the son of the late Andrew and Estella (Pluck) Coleman.

Preceded in death by sisters, Mrs. Violet Kirkman, and Mrs. Miriam Neifert; brothers, Andrew, Frederick, and Joseph Coleman.
Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa., where the family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 29, 2012.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Jerome R.C.C. at 11 o'clock AM Wednesday, February 29, 2012, Rev. James Bechtel to officiate.
Interment with Military Honors will be at St. Jerome R.C.C. Cemetery in Tamaqua, Pa.
