Rosemary (Rosie) Papanek died July 22, 2021, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, following a short illness.
Ms. Papanek was born December 5, 1957, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Robert and Pauline Papanek.
In 1969, the Papanek family moved to Lansford, Pennsylvania. Rosie became a part of the community.
She served as a library aide at Marian Catholic High School in Tamaqua. In 1976, Rosie was a
Bicentennial princess for Lansford’s United States Bicentennial celebration. Rosie graduated in 1977
from Marian Catholic High School. Rosie worked in the local garment industry for many years, until their
closing in the late 80’s, after which she moved to Ocean City, New Jersey.
Rosie had a joy of life that was contagious – whether dancing in the parlor with her siblings joining the
fun, playing with the family dogs in the yard, screaming on roller coaster rides with her niece and
nephew, or playing with her grand-nephew sprawled on the floor surrounded by hot wheels. When
Rosie was home, the house would fill with laughter. One couldn’t help but smile when they were with
her.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Pauline, and her father, Robert. Rosie is survived by her
siblings: John, Julia, Marie, Steven, and Janet, as well as her nephew, Ryan, niece, Tori, and Tori’s
children, Keanna and Troy. Rosie was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
