Roosevelt H. "Jack" Acker

May 20, 1933 — August 12, 2015

Roosevelt H. “Jack” Acker, husband, father, and friend, 82 years of age, entered into his eternal rest while a guest at Heritage Hill in Weatherly, Pennsylvania. Jack formerly resided in Tresckow and Weatherly.

Preceded in death by his wife, partner, and best friend Theresa (Prokopovich) Acker.

Jack is survived by his daughter Theresa M. “Terri” Gentele and her husband David of Treskow; grandson David Gentele, Jr. of New Port News Virginia; nieces, and nephews.

Jack served in the United States Army during the Korean War in the 101st Airborne Division, having fought on the front lines. State side, Jack served as an MP at Fort Monroe, Virginia. Jack worked for 20 plus years for Dolinsky Brothers Tree Farm as a digger, and mechanic.

A member of Our Lady of Lourdes R.C.C. of Weatherly, Jack was also a proud member of American Legion Post #360 of Weatherly where he was active in the Post’s Honor Guard, which presented the colors for all for his deceased comrades.

His passion and hobby in life was his radio controlled airplanes, helicopters, boats, and trucks. Jack was a member of the Tuscarora Flying Club. He enjoyed fishing, and wood working. Because of his mechanical abilities, he was always tinkering and able to repair most anything.

Born in Sandy Valley, the son of the late Roosevelt T., and Eva (Stoltz) Acker, he was one of six children.

Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home & Cremation services of 211 First street Weatherly, Pennsylvania 18255.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes R.C.C. 318 Plane Street Weatherly, Pennsylvania on Monday, August 17, 2015 at 10 o’clock A.M., Rev. Floyd Caesar to officiate.

Friends shall be received at the funeral home on Sunday evening August 16, 2015 from 6 to 8:00 P.M. and on Monday morning August 17, 2015 from 8:45 A.M. until 9:30 A.M.

Interment with Military honors atMt. Laurel Cemetery Hazleton, Pennsylvania.
