Mr. Ronald B. "Ronnie" Hood,Sr., age 71, of West Ridge Street Lansford, Pa., died Monday, May 24, 2010, at Triumph Hospital of Easton in Easton, Pa.
A Lebanon High School graduate, Ron earned an Associates degree from Thompson Institute of Harrisburg, Pa.
Ron, worked for the former Jet-Data Computing of Lansford as a programmer for 45 years, and served in the Army National Guard of Hershey for 15 years.
A member of the St Paul's Lutheran Church of Summit Hill, Ron also was active in the Lansford Historical Society, and served on the Lansford Planning Commission.
As a youth, he proudly earned the Rank of Eagle Scout as a member of the Boy Scouts of America.
Born in Lebanon, he was the son of the late Fred and Grace (Jones) Hood.
He is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Mrs. Edna E. (Whitehead) Hood;
Two Sons,
Ron B. Hood and his wife Jenny of Lansford,
David W. Hood and his wife Crystal of Berwick;
Three grandchildren, Stephen, Bradley, and Morgan;
Many nieces and nephews;
Preceded in death by his brother Leo Hood.
Arrangements are being handled by Holmes - Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc., 200 East Bertsch Street, Lansford, Pa., where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, May 26, 2010.
Funeral service will be at Holmes - Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc. at 12 o'clock PM Thursday, May 27, 2010, Rev. John F. Hazel officiating.
Interment will be at Grand Army Cemetery in Summit Hill, Pa.
Memorials in his honor to Lansford Historical society 117 East Bertsch Street Lansford, Pa. 18232, or Boy Scouts Troop 744 in care of Dr. Richard Vermillion 204 South Chestnut Street Summit Hill, Pa 18250.
