Robert William Zeplin, 91 of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away in the care of his loving family while a guest at Mapleshade Meadows, Nesquehoning PA on Sunday, February 11, 2024
Born Saturday, September 3, 1932 in Coaldale, Pennsylvania, he was a son of Arthur and Martha (Kleinhagen) Zeplin. Bob was predeased by his beloved wife of 62 years Anne H. (McGroarty) Zeplin on December 29, 2023. He was also predeceased by a son-in law, Jason Lee Frohnheiser, and his three sisters Jane Williams, Doris Kurtz, and Gladys Linkhorst.
A graduate of Tamaqua Area High School Class of 1950, Bob honorably served in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict. He retired from the Atlas Powder Company where he worked as a mechanic for 32 years. He was a member of St. John XXIII Roman Catholic Church. Bob was an active part of the Tamaqua community as a member of the East End Fire Company and a long-time coach in the Tamaqua Baseball Association. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Phillies, Penn State football, college basketball, and particularly all of the local games for his grandchildren.
Surviving are daughter, Theresa M. Brode and her husband Gene of Tamaqua, PA, Anne Frohnheiser of Tamaqua, PA, Debra Moyer of Pottsville, PA, Robert A. Zeplin and his wife Lorna of Deer Lake, PA, and Chrisanne Seguin and her husband John. Bob is also survived by his brother, David Zeplin and his wife Jean, 11 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff of Mapleshade Meadows for providing such peace of mind over the last year and extending such care and kindness.
Services have been entrusted to E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc, 655 East Broad Street, Tamaqua, PA 18252. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday February 17 at noon from St. John XXIII Roman Catholic Church, 307 Pine Street, Tamaqua, PA 18252. Friends may call at the church hall from 10:30 AM until time of the service. Interment will be in St. Jerome's Parish Cemetery.
