Robert C. Faust
(September 22, 1915 – September 25, 2015)
Robert C. Faust, age 100, of Indian Run Road, Weatherly, passed quietly Friday, September 25 2015 at Heritage Hill Senior Community where he was a resident. Born in Hazleton, PA., he was the son of the late Robert V. Faust and Maud E. (Clewell) Faust.
Bob grew up in Weatherly and graduated from Weatherly Area High School in 1933. Following, graduation, he worked for a time at his father’s business, the “Weatherly Herald” newspaper.
During World War II, he served with the Army Air Corps in the China-Burma-India Theater as an aircraft mechanic. He returned after the war to marry his longtime sweetheart, Faith J. Wilkes.
Bob pursued a career in the roofing and sheet metal trades and at one time owned his own business, working at this profession for nearly 40 years. Upon retirement, he used his knowledge and skills to work on projects for family, friends and the community. A lifelong outdoorsman, Bob spent many years hunting and fishing throughout eastern Pennsylvania. Along with Faith, he always enjoyed the beauty of nature and its wildlife.
He has been a member of various hunting clubs, the Weatherly Area Historical Commission, the L&L Fire Company, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Air Force Sergeants Association and the American Legion. Bob served for several years as treasurer and secretary for Lehigh Township. He is also a member of the Centenary Methodist Church of Weatherly and taught Sunday school classes early in life.
He is survived by his daughter S. Dawn (Faust) Watts, Richfield, Utah; son Robert W. Faust, Puyallup, Washington; brother, James (Louise) Faust of Weatherly. He also has one granddaughter, Lori (David) Watts Peterson, and great-granddaughters, Emma, Mya, Melanie and Kate Peterson of Annabella, Utah in addition to many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his wife Faith, Sister Sara Maud (Faust) Kelshaw, brothers Asa, Warren and son-in-law, Jerry Watts.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 211 First St., Weatherly, PA, 18255 where the family will receive friends on Friday October 2, 2015, 6-8 P.M. and on Saturday, 3 October from 9:30 A.M. until time of service at 11 o’clock A.M.. Rev. Marjorie Keiter to officiate.
Interment with military honors will be at the Union Cemetery, Weatherly, Pennsylvania.
