Robert E. Rex, age 81 of 97 Mantzville Road., Andreas passed away in his home November 5, 2008.
Born in New Mahoning on August 20, 1927, he was the son of the late Llewellyn and Hulda (Miller) Rex. He was a lifelong member of St. Peters Union Church, Mantzville. He served on the church council for 6 years and the cemetery board for 25 years. He loved his family. He was an avid hunter. He enjoyed deer hunting with his family and friends for many years. A veteran of World War II, he served a tour of duty in Munich, Germany with the 508th military police battalion. A life member of the Mahoning Valley Fire Company and Andreas Fire Company #1.
He and his brother-in-law, the late Berlyn D. Miller owned and operated Miller & Rex Dairy Farm for 28 years. Other occupations were plastering and masonry for approximately 20 years. He was also employed by Richard Breiner excavating for 10 years and Huss contracting for 19 years as an equipment operator. After he retired he enjoyed working with his children and grandchildren on the family farm.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 60 years, Eldora (Miller) Rex. His son and daughter in law, Dennis & Paulette Rex of Andreas, his daughter and son in law Charlene and Albert Miller of Andreas. A sister, Pauline Frey (husband Chester) of New Mahoning.

Five grandchildren, Allen Miller, Jennifer Miller (husband Kent), Neil Rex (wife Christine), Amy Zeigenfuss (husband Craig) and Shelly Rex.

Six great-grandchildren, Allison & Marissa Miller, Travis & Mitchell Miller and Riley & Chase Zeigenfuss.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Irene (Rex) Fritz.

November 9, 2008, at St. Peters Union Church in Mantzville, family and friends may gather to share and remember from 6 - 7:30pm, followed by a service to celebrate Robert’s life with Pastor Rodney Wells and Pastor Russell L.J. Heintzelman officiating.

Public Committal will be held November 10, 2008 at 11:00am at St. Peters Cemetery.
