Robert J. "Bob" Gimbi

Robert J. Gimbi, Sr., 89 years of age, of Rockport  Weatherly, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Friday, January 17, 2020, at home. Born Thursday, February 27, 1930 in Hazleton, Pennsylvania the son of the late Peter and Ruth (Younker) Hartz-Gimbi.  He was also predeceased by; his wife of 59 years Dolores (Schneider) Gimbi who passed away in 2014; brother, Samuel Hartz; sisters. Jeanne G. Cronk, Mavis (Hartz) Miller, Mildred (Hartz) Miller. Surviving are son, Robert J. Gimbi  and his wife Lashette of Weatherly with whom he resided;  daughter, Cynthia Hoppes of Breiningsville; grand children, Eric Hoppes and Robert Gimbi III.. A Weatherly High School graduate, Robert worked for Tung-Sol for 40 years.  In retirement Robert worked at Brookside Country Club in the Lehigh Valley for over 15 years as an attendant. Robert enjoyed hunting, golfing and shooting darts for years at the former Rockport Tavern, and as a member of the Freeland VFW.  Robert, participated in a number of dart tournaments. In his youth Robert was an excellent pool player, and bowler having rolled several perfect games. He was also a member of the Silver Ridge Hunting Club of Weatherly.
