Robert J. (Bob) Bednar, 56, of Weatherly passed away quietly Thursday, October 27th, 2011 in King of Prussia, PA.
A graduate of West Hazleton High School, class of 1973, Bob was employed by Rossville/Chromatex from 1986 to 2001 and Lazy Pet Products until 2006. In recent years he had worked as a general contractor and handyman, gaining a reputation as a Mr. Fix-It and tremendous praise for his gifted woodworking.
Bob was a staple of the Weatherly Community; having served in the Citizen’s Fire Co. #1, as a member of the Knights of Columbus, and competing in several dart leagues. He was an avid Nascar and racing fan. In all things he was known for his quiet, thoughtful disposition, hearty laughter and fierce friendship – always giving without asking anything in return.
Robert was born in Hazleton, October, 18, 1955, the son of the late George and Antoinette (Suskevich) Bednar.
Bob was welcomed into eternal life by his loving wife Sharon (Lehr) Bednar; brother Lawrence, Baltimore, MD and brother Richard, Hazleton. He is survived by his daughter Jennifer M. (Bednar) Perkins and her husband Jeremiah, East Norriton; Sister Gloria A. (Bednar) Benjamin and her husband Robert, Hazle Township; sister-in-law Bernadette (Scitny) Bednar; sister-in-law Irene (Meekins) Bednar; sister-in-law Kathryn (Lehr) Mehan and her companion Eric Weest, King of Prussia; brother-in-law John Lehr and his wife Karen (Hoopes) Lehr, Marion, VA; several nieces, nephews and cousins; companion Patrice Gerhard, Weatherly and countless friends.
The family will be receiving friends from 6pm to 8pm Tuesday, November 1st, 2011 and from 12pm to 1pm Wednesday, November, 2nd at Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home 211 First Street, Weatherly, PA.
Prayer services to be held Wednesday November 2nd, 2011 at 12pm at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes, R.C.C., Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 1:30pm. Rev. Floyd Caesar to officiate.
Interment will be at parish cemetery.
