Mr. Richard J. Skasko, age 66, of E. Elm St., Tamaqua died Monday, December 21, 2009 at his home.
He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tamaqua where he was President of the Cemetery Committee, Tamaqua American Legion, East End Fire Co., C.H. Berry Post 173 and Vietnam Veterans of America.
He was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran and a 1961 Mahanoy City High School graduate where he was involved in the football program.
He was employed by the Borough of Tamaqua as a Rehabilitation Officer for the Rehab. Program for 33 years.
Born in Mahanoy City, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary (Haberick) Skasko.
He is survived by his
wife of 41 years, Darlene (Martzen) Skasko
daughters, Brenda L. (Skasko) Brajkovich of Royersford, Pa.; Cheryl R. Skasko-Shemansik of Knightdale, NC
sister, Dorothy Catchur of Reading.
Preceded in death by brothers, Joseph and John; sisters, Mary Reba, Helen Mulik and Irene Bross.
Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc. 655 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, Pa. where the family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 from 6-8 P.M.
Funeral Service will be on Thursday, December 24, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Reverend Debra Ernst officiating.
Interment with military honors will be at Sky View Memorial Park, Tamaqua, Pa.
