Richard E. Mertz

Richard E. Mertz, 77 years of age of Lansford, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at home in the care of; his caregiver Barbara; brother-in-law Arthur Williams, and his wife Mary.

Born Friday, September 24, 1943 in Coaldale, Pennsylvania. the son of the late Francis, and Lulu (Yates) Mertz. Richard was also predeceased by; his beloved wife, Alice J. (Williams) Mertz on Nov. 28, 2013; son, Matthew Curtis Mertz on Feb. 17, 2008; brother, Francis Mertz, Jr.

Surviving are son, Wayne Mertz and his wife Barbara; grandchildren, Gavon, Kira, Adam, and Sarah.

Richard retired from Guaranteed Freight as a Truck Driver. He served honorably as a 20 year member of the Army National Guard. Richard was a member of the Lansford American Legion. An animal lover, Richard was a volunteer for the Carbon County Animal Rescue team.

Graveside Services with Military Honors to be bestowed will be held on Thursday April 22, 2021 beginning at noon from Sky View Memorial Park located at 108 Lafayette Ave. Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252.
