Richard John Massa, age 89, of Coaldale, died Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Hometown Nursing Home in Tamaqua.
A 1940 Summit Hill High School graduate, Richard served in the United States Navy during WWII.
Residing and working in the Mid-West after his military service, he returned home to the Panther Valley in 1984.
Richard, was a member of St. Joseph's R.C.C. of Summit Hill, and the Summit Hill American Legion.
Born in summit Hill, he was the son of the late John and Marcella (Castagnera) Massa.
He is survived by his
One Sister,
Mrs. Marie J. (Massa) Radocha of Coaldale;
One Brother,
Robert P. Massa and his wife Anna Mae of Allentown;
Many nieces, and nephews;
Preceded in death by a sister, Jean (Marina) Duffy.
Arrangements are being handled by Holmes-Griffiths Funeral Home, 655 East Broad Street, Tamaqua, Pa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated July 31, 2012 at 11 o'clock A.M. from St. Joseph's R.C.C. 462 West Ludlow Street Summit Hill, Pa. 18250, Rev. James Burdess to officiate.
Friends may call in church from 9:30 A.M. until 10:45 A.M.
