Raymond J. DeWire, Sr., 88 years of age of West Rowe Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away on Friday, September 18, 2015, at St. Luke's Miners Memorial Medical Center in Coaldale, surrounded by his family.
Widower of Louise A. (Coccio) DeWire who passed away on April 25, 2014, Raymond is survived by his; son, Raymond J. "Bud" DeWire, Jr. and his wife Nadine of Tamaqua; daughter, Louann D. Christopher wife of John Jr. of Ormond Beach, FL;
His grand children who referred to him as Pap; Raymond Dean DeWire and his wife Brittany, Emily Christopher, April Christopher, Dane DeWire, John Christopher III, and Deana Rae DeWire, and Karley Hine;
Great grand children; Blythe, Davin, and Kameron;
Preceded in death by brothers, Donald "Ace" DeWire, and Charles DeWire.
Born Sunday, October 24, 1926 in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania, son of the late Raymond F., and Margaret (Deitrich) DeWire.
Raymond was a 1944 graduate of St. Jerome High School, and the served honorably in the United States Army during WWII. Upon returning home Raymond went to work at the former Atlas Powder Company of Reynolds retiring in 1989 after forty-two years. Raymond was a member of St. John XXIII R.C.C. of Tamaqua.
Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 o'clock AM on Saturday September 26, 2015 at St. John XX III R.C.C. located at 266 West Broad Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM on Saturday, September 26, 2015, at the church.
Interment with Military honors St. Jerome R.C.C. Cemetery, Tamaqua, Pennsylvania to follow immediately after the Mass of Christian Burial.
