Peter Harahush

April 28, 1925 — October 2, 2007

Peter Harahush, 82 yrs. of age died Tuesday evening October 2, 2007 in his home on Atlas Road, Tamaqua, PA.

Born in New Ringgold, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Wash and Anna (Yuhas) Harahush. Prior to enlisting in the United State Army in 1943, Peter was employed by Rohrers Knitting Mill of New Ringgold, Pa., and Pratt & Whitney Aircraft of Ct..

While serving his country Peter was a First Scout and Sharp Shooter Rifleman 745 with the 7th Infantry 3rd Division , during World War II. Fighting battles in, Italy, and Southern France, where he was critically wounded on September 10, 1944. From his injury he remained Paralyzed and confined to a wheel chair for Fifty-nine years, and bed bound for the last four years. Peter was honorably discharged at nineteen years of age from military service. His awards and decorations for service, included a Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, European-African- Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with a Double Bronze Star attachment, World War II Victory Medal, Combat Infantry Badge 1st Award, Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII, Sharpshooter Badge and Rifle Bar.

Peter was a Lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans Assoc., and A member of St. Mary’s Russian Orthodox Church of Coaldale, PA.

Survived by his Sisters, Anna Bogosh of Lehighton, Pa., Helen Bogosh of Tamaqua, Pa.,
Tweleve Nephews and Nieces including, his caregiver, Miss Terri Bogosh .

Preceded in death by Brothers, John, Steven, Harry, and Michael; Sister, Mrs. Mary Dolan-Tighe.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday October 9, 2007 at 10 o’clock A.M. from St. Mary’s Russian Orthodox Church 217 First Street Coaldale, Pa. 18218 with Father Daniel C. Mathewson officiating.

Friends may call in church from 9:00 A.M. until time of services.

Interment with Military honors will be at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemtery in Annville, Pennsylvani at 1:30 P.M. on Tuesday October 9, 2007

Memorials in Peter’s name maybe made to the St. Mary’s Russian Orthodox Cemetery Fund in care of the church.
