Perry P. Castellani of Lansford, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 10, 2015 at the Summit Nursing Home in Lehighton. He was 85. He was the husband of the late Christine (Ventre) Castellani who passed away in 2010.
He was Catholic by faith.
Born May 4, 1930 in Lansford, Perry was the son of the late Regolino and Teresa (DaFermo) Castellani. After graduating from Lansford High School in 1948, he joined the United States Navy. Perry served proudly for 22 years and was a Korean War veteran. Honorably discharged as a Chief Petty Officer, he retired to his hometown in 1970. Serving as the shoe manager with the former W.T. Grant of Lehighton and then as store manager of Endicott Johnson Shoes of Lansford, Perry earned the nickname “The Shoe Man”.
Perry was an enthusiastic gardener, especially in his vegetable garden. He enjoyed fixing things around the house, re-purposing found, cast-off items (which made his family smile), and sharing stories, particularly those about his time in the Navy, with old and new friends alike.
