Paul Franklin Scheitrum

Paul Franklin Scheitrum, Sr., 95 years of age, formerly of Brown Street Tamaqua, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Luther Ridge in Pottsville.
Widower of Julia Ann (Bergen) Scheitrum who passed away on October 9, 2009.
Born in Tamaqua, son of the late George F. and Gertrude Mae (Leiby) Scheitrum.
Paul worked for the former Atlas Powder Company in Reynolds for thirty-seven years as a mechanic retiring in 1981. Paul enjoyed the outdoors, and was a member of the Tamaqua Pistol and Rifle Club. He was an avid sportsman, photographer, craftsman, and jack-of-all trades.
Paul served in Europe during World War II as a member of the Army's 164th Engineer Combat Battalion.

Daughters: Ellen (Scheitrum) Cardoso wife of Tony of San Diego, CA, Gail (Scheitrum) Hoffman wife of Darrell of Greencastle, PA;
Sons: Glenn P. Scheitrum and his wife Lynne, San Mateo, CA, Mark E. Scheitrum and his wife Margaret , San Jose , CA, Carl J. Scheitrum of Macungie, PA, Ward M. Scheitrum and his wife Sonia, Fresno , CA Paul F. Scheitrum, Jr., Pottsville, PA;
Sixteen grand children who adored their pop-pop.
Preceded in death by; daughter-in-law, Lynn Scheitrum on July 23, 2014; sisters, Mrs. Laura Albertson, Mrs. Minnie Smith, Mrs. Florence Templin, Mrs. Annabelle Arner, Mrs. Mayme Ferry, Mrs. Edith Frace, and Mrs. Agnes Brobst; brothers, Harry, George, Clarence, and nephews Frederick “Set” Scheitrum, and Charles Frace, who were raised as brothers.
Arrangements are entrusted to E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa.
A gathering of friends will take place at the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., from 9:00 A.M. until time of services, on Wednesday September 3, 2014.
Funeral service will be at E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services at 11 o'clock A.M., Wednesday, September 3, 2014, Rev. Marjorie Keiter to officiate.
Military Honors to be bestowed in the courtyard of the funeral home.
Private Interment will be at St. Jerome's R.C. Cemetery, Tamaqua.
