Mr. Paul P. Porter, age 86, of Fowlersville Road, Bloomsburg, Pa., died Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at home surrounded by his family.
A 45 year career railroader, Paul retired in 1983 from Conrail in Stroudsburg, having worked as an inspector, and foreman.
He served in the United States Army during WWII, and is a member of Salem U.C.C. of Weatherly, Weatherly, and Freeland American Legion's.
Born in Weatherly, he was the son of the late Arlie and Ruth (Funk) Porter.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mrs. Margaret (Buchman) Porter;
One Daughter with whom they reside, Ruth (Porter) Kohl of Bloomsburg;
One Son,
Richard G. Porter, and his wife Connie of Bloomsburg;
One Sister,
Mrs. Catherine (Porter) Frey of Weatherly;
Six grandchildren, Heather, Tara, Kelly, Jackie, Ricky, and Eddie;
Nine great-grandchildren;
Preceded in death by brothers, Edward, Roy, and William Porter.
Arrangements are being handled by Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home, 211 First Street, Weatherly, Pa., Philip J. Jeffries F.D./Sup.
Where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, April 23, 2010.
Funeral service will be at Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home, Inc. at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 24, 2010, Rev. Dave Borton officiating.
Interment with Military Honors will be at Union Cemetery, Weatherly.
