Paul C. Hoffman

Paul C. Hoffman, father and grandfather, 88 years of age passed away on Tuesday June 21, 2016 at St. Luke’s Miners Memorial Medical Center in Coaldale, Pennsylvania.
Widower of Grace (Long) Hoffman his wife of sixty-two years to whom Paul was her devoted caregiver until her passing on November 1, 2015. Paul is survived by his daughter Hope A. Harakel and her husband Edward B. of Tuscarora; son, Rene A. Hoffman and his wife Stephanie of Downingtown; grandchildren, Eddie Harakel and his wife Marika, Kelly Hoffman, and Shannon Lee and her husband Travis; great grandchildren, Mason Harakel, Hunter Harakel, and Justin M. Harakel, Jr. Many nieces and nephews also survive Paul.
A 1946 Tamaqua High School graduate, Paul served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War as a supply Sgt. Returning home, he worked at the former Bundy Tubing of Hometown for twenty-nine years as a foreman, and retired from Lehigh Asphalt of Andreas.
A Member of St. John’s Church of Mahoning, Paul was also affiliated with the West Penn Lion’s Club, and Tamaqua V.F.W. Paul was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.
Born in Tamaqua, the son of the late Silas, and Edna (Schwartz) Hoffman. He was predeceased by a grandson, Justin M. Harakel, Sr.; sisters, Mrs. Thelma Matruder, Mrs. Mildred Wagner, and Mrs. Ruth Corinchock.
Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. of 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252. (570) 668-2550.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 24, 2016 at 11 o’clock A.M. from St. John’s Church of Mahoning, 826 Mahoning Drive West Lehighton, Pennsylvania 18235, Rev. Allison deForest to officiate.
Friends may call Friday morning in church from 10:00 A.M. until time of services.
Interment with Military Honors in the church cemetery.
