Nicholas A. Paraschak

Nicholas A. Paraschak, 94 years of age of Philips Street, Coaldale, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital in Allentown.

Widower of Mildred E. (Bartal) Paraschak who passed away on April 9, 2001, Nicholas is survived by; daughters, Mrs. Mildred "Millie" Mosella wife Ray of Allentown, PA and Karen Delman of Mahanoy City, PA; son, Nicholas J. Paraschak and his wife Kathy of Vienna, VA; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren.

A 1942 graduate of the former Coaldale High School, Nicholas served honorably in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII having fought in the invasion of Normandy. Nick retired from Fort Indiantown Gap as a Master Sgt. after 331/2 years of military service as a Communications Electronics Inspector. During his tenure, he received many awards, decorations and medals.

A member of St. Joseph's R.C.C. of Panther Valley, and former member of SS. Cyril & Methodius R.C.C. of Coaldale he volunteered as an usher. Nick was active in the Knights of Columbus Chapter 2711, Knights of Columbus Schuylkill Assembly #0923, and St. Vincent DePaul Society, He was a forth degree knight.

A life member and Past Commander of V.F.W. Post # 6982 of Coaldale, Life Member Coaldale American Legion, Life Member 364 Fighter Group, and 8th Air Force National and Pennsylvania Chapters. He was a past president of the Coaldale Lions Club, and held membership in the NCO Club Nationally and for the State of Pennsylvania, Lansford AmVets #83, and Catholic War Veterans Post #179 of New Philadelphia.

Born Tuesday, January 31, 1922 in Coaldale, the son of the late Anthony and Margaret (Hutta) Paraschak. he was also predeceased by a brother, John Paraschak and sister Helen Rokita; nephew Daniel Rokita.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. of 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252. (570) 668-2550.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Joseph's the Worker R.C.C. of 1879 Applewood Drive, Orefield, Pennsylvania 18069 on Tuesday December 20, 2016 at 10:30 A.M., Rev. Richard James to officiate.

Friends shall be received on Monday evening December 19, 2016 at the funeral home from 6 to 8:00 P.M., and on the morning of services from the church from 9:30 A.M. until 10:15 A.M.

Memorials in his name to the church of St. Joseph's the Worker R.C.C.

Interment with Military Honors, will be at Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery Annville, Pennsylvania on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 P.M.
