Miriam G. (Osenbach) Kistler, age 88, of Lehighton, Pa., died Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at Pleasant Trees Retirement Village in Lehighton, Pa.
Miriam was a bookeeper, and clerk at M&S Hardware of Tamaqua, managed Mahoning Valley Hardware of Lehighton, then served as Mahoning Twp. Secretary for 9 years. While navigating her primary jobs, she also served as Secretary to the Lutheran Minister pastoring to the Mahoning Valley Lutheran charges.
Previous to these jobs she worked as a waitress and baker for the West Penn Diner.
A member of Christ Evangelical Free Church, Miriam was an active member, supervising child care for weekly bible study.
A girl scout leader, and member of the P.T.O. of Mahoning Elemnetary School, Miriam loved to cook and bake for her family, as they enjoyed her homemade bread and jelly. Reading, gardening, and woodworking and all family activities brought her much joy.
Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late William and Lillian (Kantner) Osenbach.
She is survived by her
Three Daughters,
Betty M. (Kistler) Breiner wife of Kenneth of Lehighton,
Shirley K. (Kistler) Baker wife of Richard of St. Louis, Mo.,
Linda L. (Kistler) Nace wife of Mitchell of Lehighton;
Two Sisters,
Mae (Osenbach) Bailey of Tower City,
Mamie (Osenbach) Williams wife of Robert of Tamaqua;
One Brother,
Earl Osenbach and his wife Miriam of Oley;
Six grandchildren
Two great-grandchildren
Two great-great grandchildren;
Preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Daniel Kistler in 1971; son, John H. Kistler in 1993; sisters, Beatrice Hoppes, and Ruth Hahn; brothers, William, Robert, and Paul Osenbach;
Sister-in-law, Fern Osenbach, and brother-in-law Phillip Hahn also survive her, as well as many nieces, and nephews.
Arrangements are being handled by Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, Inc., 2066 West Penn Pike, Rte. 309 Snyders Village, New Ringgold, Pa., where the family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM Monday, January 16, 2012.
Funeral service will be at Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, Inc. at 11:00 AM Monday, January 16, 2012, Rev. Greg Laible to officiate.
Interment will be at St. Peter's Cemetery of Mantzville.
