Mildred E. Assalita

Mildred E. Assalita, of Reynolds, Tamaqua, PA passed away peacefully on Thursday morning , March 15, 2018, at St. Luke's Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Coaldale, PA at the age of 94. Widow of Blase C. Assalita  ( d. August 4, 2010 ).  She is survived by:first  son Ronald C. Assalita and his wife Carol of Plainfield, IL  ( their daughters Kristy, Tracy, Shala & Cara ) 4 great grand children; 2 great great grandchildren; son Dr. Larry J. Assalita and his wife Dr. Pamela Assalita  ( daughter Sydney ) of State College, PA;sister, Dorothy Koenig Hermany , New Tripoli , PA Born September 25, 1923 in Red Valley, Andreas, PA the daughter of the late Calvin and Cora (Long) Koenig.  Mildred was also predeceased by four brothers, and three sisters .   A current and life long active faithful member of Zion Stone Church of West Penn Township since childhood. Mildred retired after 16 years from the former J.E. Morgan Knitting Mills having worked in cafeteria and previously worked at Atlas Chemical Inc . She enjoyed working in her garden cultivating the continued offspring of tomato plants Blase's father brought as seedlings to America when emigrating from Italy in 1906.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Robert S. Nester Funeral Home & Cremation Services, (570) 386-5884 Funeral services will be held at 11 o'clock A.M. on Friday March 23, 2018 from Zion Stone Church of West Penn Twp., 45 Cemetery Road New Ringgold, PA  17960. Friends will be received at church from 9:30 A.M. until time of services  at 11 AM. Rev Russell Campbell to officiate.
