Michael A. Gayda, 86 years of age, formerly of Lansford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at his home in Wilkes-Barre while in the care of his companion, Martha Aregood.
Born Monday, November 12, 1934 in Nesquehoning, Pennsylvania the son of the late Andrew, and Mary (Ksenak) Gayda. He was also predeceased by; his beloved wife of 49 years, Elizabeth K. "Betty" (Kadlecik) Gayda on November 5, 2009; brothers, Nicholas, and John Gayda.
Surviving are daughters, Sharon E. Breiner wife of the late Jay Breiner of Lansford, Susan A. Rickert wife of Tom of Coaldale; sister, Mary Pituch wife of Victor of Nesquehoning; granddaughter whom he adored, Courtney Rickert. Many nieces and nephews also survive Michael.
A graduate of Nesquehoning High School, Michael served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. Michael was a Union Carpenter, Local Union 600 of Bethlehem, and member of St. John Slovak Lutheran Church of Lansford. Michael was an accomplished Polka Dancer having attended many dances throughout North Eastern Pennsylvania, and on the weekly Polka shows on TV. Civically, Michael had been a member of the Lansford Fire Company, Lansford Ambulance Corp, and longtime member of the Lansford Amvets.
