Mary Alice Arner, beloved mother, grammy, and great grammy, of East Broad Street Tamaqua, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 1, 2022, as a guest of Maple Shade Meadows Senior Living, Nesquehoning at 92 years of age.
Born Sunday, March 9, 1930 in Coaldale, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Waters) Breslin. Mary was also predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Harry R. "Richie" Arner on November 2, 2021; sisters, Elizabeth Olenick, Margaret James; and brothers, James, William, and Charles Breslin.
Surviving are: daughter, Kathy M. Carnish and her husband, James, of Tamaqua; grandchildren, Dr. Erin R. Carnish and her husband Sean Bernard, Molly K. Carnish; and great grandchildren, Colin and Patrick Bernard.
A graduate of the former St. Mary's High School of Coaldale, Mary worked for Atlas Powder Co. for a short time after high school before settling into her role as a homemaker. She was member of St. John XXIII R.C.C. of Tamaqua. Mary was well known as a talented cook and baker.
