Mrs. Marsha Anne (Petzold) Cusatis, 57, of Bernhard Road, Barnesville,
Pa., died Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at St. Luke’s Bethlehem in
Fountain Hill, Pa.
A graduate of Elk County Christian School, Marsha attended Edinboro
University to study art. She was an accomplished freelance artist with
an extensive portfolio exhibiting her renderings at the Gallery at The
Tamaqua Art Center.
From 1985 to 1997, she directed the school plays at Marian Catholic
High School, Tamaqua, Pa. Marsha served on the executive boards of the
Nesquehoning Women’s Club and the former Panther Valley Visiting Nurse
Association. She was a member of the Tamaqua Library Book Club and
active with the Tamaqua Gallery Art Guild.
A member of St. Richards R.C.C. of Barnesville, Marsha served as music
director of the church and choir. She was also a member of the
church’s Lazarus Society, responsible for comforting church members
during their time of bereavement and coordinating a meaningful
spiritual remembrance.
Born in St. Mary’s, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Richard and
Margaret (Gapinski) Petzold.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, John A. “Jack” Cusatis;
one son, Joshua M. Cusatis, and his companion, Emily Branch, of
Shillington, Pa.; one brother, Craig Petzold, and his wife, Terri, of
Columbia, Md.; a niece, Kelly, and a nephew, Matthew.
Arrangement are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home,
Inc., 655 East Broad Street, Tamaqua, Pa., where the family will
receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, July 28, 2009.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Richards R.C.C.,
799 Barnesville Road, Barnesville, Pa., at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July
29, 2009.
Private interment will be at Sky View Memorial Park in Tamaqua.
