Marlene A. Miller

July 27, 1950 — March 27, 2023

Marlene Ann Miller, 72, formerly of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania departed from her physical body on March 27, 2023 as a resident of the Greenwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Hometown

Born on July 27th, 1950 in Poughkeepsie, NY Marlene was a daughter of the late Coal Miner Frances and “Little Musillini” Marcella (nee Kazacavage) Kazlosky and sister to the late Loretta Arruza and Elsie Kowalski.

Marlene is survived by her 3 children, Joseph Wharran of Lake Wales, FL and Denise Wharran of Tampa, FL and Andrea Simonelli of Dubai, UAE as well as her 2 grandchildren, great granddaughter and extended family.

Our mother was Catholic and would often hum the tune of “Jesus Christ Superstar”. She will always be remembered for her favorite mullet hairstyle, impressive billiard skills, exceptional talent growing the ‘Night Blooming Cyrus’ and love of all animals, especially horses. She was an avid “collector” of anything and EVERYTHING, especially AVON.

Marlene is known for her ‘straight-shooting’ knack for telling it like it was and severe lack of patience. She wasn’t the warmest woman, yet she was sweating all of the time. Cut-and dry, she either liked you a lot, or she didn’t like you at all. As her children, that was confusing. As adults, we know she loved us and did the best she could with what she had in this lifetime.

Marlene’s 20 year journey with MS decreased her quality of life significantly, destroying her ability to walk and diminished her ability to remember our faces. Her children ask that you take the time to express appreciation for the simple things in life that are often taken for granted, tell those close to your heart that you love them and tell them often and if you feel inspired, to perform a random act of kindness in her memory instead of donations.

Private Arrangements entrusted to the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. of 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252. (570) 668-2550
