Marjorie S. Updike, 81 years of age a long time Lake Hauto resident, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2017, at Hometown Nursing & Rehabilitation Ctr. in Rush Township.
Survived by her husband, Ralph L. Updike of Tamaqua; daughter, Lisa Scheitrum; sons, Ralph J. Updike and his wife Jacqueline, Steve L. Updike and his wife Sally, and Mark Updike; grandchildren, Cassie, Steve, Michelle, David, Brittany, Brandon, Lauren, Allison, and Ian; great grandchildren, Brady, and Paton; sister; Victoria E. Carey wife of Philip of Doylestown; many nieces and nephews also survive Marjorie.
Thou born on two seperate Continents, Marjorie and Ralph where destined to be together, they shared the same birthday. A war bride she traveled with Ralph throughout his military career. As a young adult in the United Kingdon Marjorie was a hair dresser. Upon Ralph's retirement from the military they purchase Sky-Lanes Bowling Alley in Hometown, and then built Spare Time Bowling Lanes which they operated until retirment. Marjorie was an animal lover, and like to bowl.
Born Wednesday, May 27, 1936 in Wisbech, United Kingdom, the daughter of the lateWalter H., and Marjorie E. (Shrimpton) Bates. She was also predeceased by brothers, Rudolph H. "Rudy" Bates, and Robert W. "Bobby" Bates.
Private funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the E. Franklin Griffiths Fuenral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. of 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252.
Interment Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Pennsylvania
