Marian A. Frantz

Mrs. Marian A. (Shellhamer) Frantz, age 91, of Tamaqua, Pa., formerly of West Penn Twp., died Friday, September 23, 2011, at St. Lukes Miners Memorial Medical Ctr. in Coaldale.

Marian worked for the John Morgan Factory when it was on Center & Broad St. in Tamaqua. Then she went with the company to the plant in Hometown. After she retired from Morgans, she helped the Zimmerman's when they opened the Leiby's Restaurant working as a short order cook. She also worked at the West Penn Diner and had part ownership.

She was an avid quilter.

She was a member of the West Penn Lioness, and Pochanhantas Council #8 of Clamtown.

Marian was a member of St. Peter's Union Church of Mantzville.

Born in West Penn Twp., she was the daughter of the late Francis O. and Dorothy M. (Hoppes) Shellhamer. Upon her mother's death, she was raised by Adilla and Amandus Hoppes.

She is survived by her

One Son,
Myron L. Frantz and his wife Sandra of Tamaqua;

One Sister,
Norma Koch wife of Lamar of Joshua Tree, Calif.;

One Brother,
Dale Shellhamer of San Diego Calif.;

Two grandchildren, Lisa Confer wife of Dennis and Lance Frantz and his wife Colleen;

Two great-grandchildren
Two great-great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her husband, Leon F. Frantz in October of 1986; and step-mother Arlean Shellhamer.

Arrangements are being handled by Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, Inc., 2066 West Penn Pike, Rte.#309, New Ringgold, Pa., where the family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 27, 2011.

Funeral service will be at Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, Inc. at 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 27, 2011, Pastor Cheryl L. Moore to officiate.

Interment in St. Peter's Union Cemetery of Mantzville,
