Margaret Ellis Hudson, 103 years of age of Wyncote, Pennsylvania, formerly of Philadelphia passed away on Monday, February 29, 2016, at Phoebe Home, Wyncote.
Surviving are son, Thomas E. Hudson, Jr. and his wife Kay of Naples, FL; daughters, the Rev. Dr. Marjorie Keiter and her husband the Rev. John of Nesquehoning, Sandra Howell wife of Stuart, Jr., of Plant City, FL; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A graduate of Frankford High School and the Bryn Mawr School of Nursing, where she worked upon graduation. Margaret served as Housemother & Counselor for Shippensburg State College for many years.
As a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church of Mt. Airy, Margaret served on the Altar Guild, and was active in the W.E.L.C.A., and Social Ministries. As an independent apartment resident at Germantown Home, she served as a volunteer in many capacities both for the nursing home and the Independent Livers Association. As a young mother she was a Girl Scout Leader and Boy Scout Den Mother.
Born Sunday, April 14, 1912, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of the late James, and Martha (Callahan) Ellis. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Mrs. Martha Klein, Mrs. Ruth Hartmann, Mrs. Mildred Ely, Mrs. Josephine Bogan, and Mrs. Virginia McClernan; Brother, James Ellis; and great grandson Michael Sullivan.
