Margaret E. Desmedt

Margaret E. Desmedt (Neal), 80, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, while in the care of Julio Ribaudo Extended Care in Lake Ariel, Pennsylvania.

Born on Friday, November 12, 1944, in Queens, New York, she was the daughter of the late Ernest J. and Helen (Bauer) Neal. Margaret was also preceded in death by her sister, Shelia Haufman; her brother, Brian Neal; and her beloved granddaughter, Kayloni H. Pinckney.She is survived by her devoted husband, Peter Martin Desmedt; her son, Peter John Desmedt and his wife Sirisha of Middletown, NY; her daughter, Kristel H. Pinckney and her husband Keith of Nesquehoning, PA; and her cherished grandchildren, Kylah, Korah, and KeTurah. She also leaves behind several loving nephews, nieces, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Margaret attended St. Joseph’s College in Brooklyn, NY, where she earned her degree in Bookkeeping. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper. A woman of many talents, Margaret was a skilled baker and cook who also had a creative spirit and a love for crafting. She enjoyed painting, solving crossword puzzles, and curling up with a good mystery novel—she was always up for a suspenseful story.Above all, Margaret was a woman of deep faith. Her belief in God guided her throughout her life, and she found strength and purpose in her spiritual convictions.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 9:45 a.m. at the Church of St. John the Evangelist, 71 Murray Avenue, Goshen, NY 10924. The Rite of Committal will follow at 1:30 p.m. at St. John’s Cemetery, 80-01 Metropolitan Avenue, Middle Village, NY 11379.
